Special
Olympics

The form for
reporting Special Olympics activities is posted on
www.OhioBPA.org
and is also available on the Special Olympics Ohio website
www.sooh.org.
Be sure to complete the form and include it with checks mailed
to the Special Olympics Ohio office. E-mail a copy of the form
to Barbara Trent, State Advisor, as well.
Ohio Association
chapters have been somewhat negligent in consistently reporting
the number of volunteer hours at SO events. If your chapter
participates in an event, be sure to record the number of
participants and the total number of hours donated to either
local or state events. Contributing one’s time is just as
important as contributing dollars.
It is important that
chapters submit the form electronically when they make
contributions to a local Special Olympics event such as
donations to your county’s Special Olympics chapter. Those
contributions will be included in determining awards presented
at the State Leadership Conference on March 16, 2012
Donations not
reported to Special Olympics Ohio by March 2, 2012, should
be brought to the State Leadership Conference. Donations from
each region will be collected at the State Leadership Conference
on Thursday, March 15 and those monies will be credited toward
the region’s total contributions to determine which region will
claim the Special Olympics Travel Trophy for 2012.
The Special Olympics
Travel Trophy currently resides in Region 13—last year’s winner
of the regional competition. At the Awards Assembly on March 16,
2012, a representative from each region will present his or her
region’s check to Special Olympics Ohio. A Region 13
representative will then present the travel trophy to the region
with the highest contribution for this year. A Special Olympics
Ohio representative will present a plaque to the region
with the highest total contribution. The Ohio Association will
present a plaque to the individual school with the
highest contribution.
Please encourage all
chapters within your region to participate in our state and
national service project by contributing to and participating in
Special Olympics activities. Chapters which have not previously
participated can contact one of the state officers for
assistance in organizing a fundraising event. Click the Area
Info tab on
www.sooh.org,
and then select your county to locate events in your region
where you can participate.
Questions related to
BPA contributions to Special Olympics should be addressed to
State AdvisorBarbara Trent at 614-387-2276 or
