President's Message:
Greetings
Ohio! It is truly an honor to serve as your president this year. I
look forward to seeing you at our State Leadership Conference in
March and hope to see many of you at the National Leadership
Conference in April. I assure you that your 2012 State Officer Team
is dedicated to making this the best year possible for you, and we
are more than willing to respond via email to all questions or
concerns you have. Our e-mail addresses are located in our
biographies on
www.ohiobpa.org.
After
careful consideration and countless hours of brainstorming, your
officer team has set a couple goals for the Ohio Association that
are sure to improve your experience as an Ohio Association member.
The first of these goals is to launch an Ohio Association Facebook
page that will allow members to engage in discussions as well as
submit their ideas to improve the organization. Also, we will create
a video promotion that will be used to reach out to schools that do
not yet have a BPA chapter.
Your
officer team will be very busy making this year one to remember.
There are also things that you can do to benefit yourself. First, we
encourage you to check out the scholarship page on the website,
especially if you are a senior and are preparing for college. You do
not want to miss out on these great scholarship opportunities. Also,
once the Facebook page is officially launched, check it regularly
for updates as well as for opportunities to get involved.
As we
begin a new year of BPA activities, set a goal to accomplish great
things in the months to come. Your officer team wants you to have an
incredible year in which you experience success in all of your
endeavors. Begin today to create unforgettable memories for 2012.
Good luck with your competitions. We cannot wait to see you at the
Hyatt Regency in March!
“In order to
succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of
failure.”

2011 Ohio ACTE Awards Keynote Address
Ohio
Association Vice President Christina Green delivered a dynamic
keynote address at the July 27 Ohio ACTE Awards session. Christina
highlighted the unique opportunities she has been afforded as a
result of enrolling in the Ellet High School of Business and serving
as a local, regional, and state officer. She challenged the audience
of CTE administrators and teachers to continue to provide
“challenging, realistic experiences for the next generation of
business leaders. By training, mentoring and supporting
career-technical students you are ensuring that they will be a part
of the solution for the many difficulties facing our schools, our
state, and our nation. You enable them to be part of the solution,
not add to the problems.”
Congratulations Ohio ACTEAwardees.
Rick
Mangini
was awarded the Lifetime Service Award. This was a special Ohio ACTE
Board Recognition for Mr. Mangini’s devotion to and support of
Ohio’s career-technical initiatives. In addition to serving as a
former BPA state advisor for the Ohio Association, he served on the
National BPA Board of Trustees and was inducted into the National
BPA Hall of Fame in 2008. BPA will certainly miss Mr. Mangini’s
leadership and guidance, but we wish him a long and happy retirement.
