Working in TeamsRick Bodey, State Parliamentarian |

Do you enjoy working in teams? If you already do that is great, but if you don't you are not alone. Until joining the state officer team, I hated working in teams. In high school I always got stuck with the extra heavy workload in teams. I would get so frustrated when others would not work at the level I expected of myself and would end up taking on the entire project. I absolutely cringed when a teacher would say “Pair up”. That would mean I would have double the homework tonight. After being on the State Officer Team, I have a whole new outlook on teamwork. I have learned there are so many different types of team work. Working together with the team, I personally have produced scripts and material that I would never have thought myself capable of producing. All of this is thanks to team work. Being a part of a team means you bounce ideas off each other. You discuss things. You work together to take each other’s work to the next level. When working in a team, you will soon discover the strengths of your teammates—and yourself. I admit that I am not very strong when it comes to creativity. But I always knew that I could count on another member of the state officer team—Sara—when I needed some help or an extra push in the right creative direction. Teamwork is not about dividing up the work and then presenting it to the class. It is about taking the best that the team has to offer and presenting what together you have accomplished. Teamwork is an amazing thing! If you have not yet experienced true teamwork, I suggest you give it another shot! |
