The annual State Leadership Conference will be here before you know it. This activity, held in Columbus, Ohio, on March 9-10, 2006, focuses on the competitive events program. This program test members’ knowledge and skills in various Information Technology, Financial, Administrative, or Management areas. The event begins at the regional level. Members in the 18 regions of Ohio work individually or as teams in a various competitions. The results of their efforts are compared with others within the region to determine the person/team that performs the best. Those who achieve the top positions are eligible to compete at the state level. The state events are held over the two-day period. Those members who were determined to be the top in the 18 regions will now compete to be identified as the top in the state. In addition to the competition, members may compete for one of two $1,000 scholarships. Awards Program recipients are also recognized including Ohio Banner Award, Statesman Recognition Award, Ohio Exemplary Chapter Award, and Ohio Professional Cup Award. Those members who compete and receive a top award in one of the events will be eligible to advance to the national level. This year our National Leadership Conference (NLC) will be held in Orlando, Florida, on May 10-14. When you advisor asks if you would like to compete in one of the competitive events, be sure to say “Yes.” Then compete and do your best so that you can represent Ohio in Florida. Ohio is proud to have some of the most outstanding members in our organization, and you can help to maintain this tradition. |
