State Leadership Conference—the Next Step

Katie Morgan, Ohio Association Historian

Regional competitive events are now finished. The State Leadership Conference in March will be the next step for many members of Business Professionals of America. This is a rewarding experience and you should be honored to participate in this opportunity, but in order to achieve success at the SLC the members need to be prepared.

It is important to remember that the State Leadership Conference is the final step toward reaching your goal of qualifying for the National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. Competition at State is much more aggressive than in regional competitions. Therefore, it is extremely important that you review your presentations and tests so that you recognize mistakes that can be revised or avoided at the state level. Studying is essential because tests and presentations become progressively more difficult as you advance.

In my perspective, practice makes perfect; you want to represent your school and yourself in the most positive manner that you can. .Being awarded at state is a great feeling and you have just as much of a chance at winning as the next competitor. I know everyone will be great! Good Luck at the State Leadership Conference!
